Dr. Victoria L. Bastecki-Perez (she, her, hers) proudly serves as the sixth President of 海角社区, advancing the College鈥檚 mission and building upon its successes. As an鈥empathetic professional who leads with mind and heart, she relies on her nearly four decades of experience in higher education鈥to guide every aspect of the institution to inspire, lead, and transform destinies and future generations. 

Since the beginning of her presidential tenure in May 2020, Dr. Bastecki-Perez has鈥spearheaded about $98 million in capital projects鈥痶o modernize 海角社区鈥檚 two campuses, including the renovation of the science center, which features a redesign of the theater into a cultural center, renovation of South Hall at 海角社区鈥檚 Pottstown Campus, construction of an expanded hospitality institute, renewal of athletic fields, and launch of a STEM-based Challenger Learning Center, the first in Pennsylvania. These transformational projects support 海角社区鈥檚 overall educational strategy鈥to serve learners of all ages and stages of life. 

Other firsts for 海角社区 during Dr. Bastecki-Perez鈥檚 presidency include being the first community college in the country to offer 24/7 online mental health therapy, and the first in Pennsylvania to host an Alpha Alpha Alpha National Honor Society chapter for first-generation college students.                                                                                                   

In addition to these pioneering initiatives, 海角社区 received a $1.1 million grant in 2022 for its new Student Wellness Center at the Pottstown Campus to support its holistic approach to student success. 

海角社区 further recently joined the PA STEM Consortium, which prepares students for in-demand careers in STEM. The opportunity is funded by a $4.98 million grant by the U.S. Department of Defense to enhance cybersecurity and STEM education opportunities. 

Through inclusive and transparent processes, Dr. Bastecki-Perez led 海角社区鈥檚 evolution of its mission, visions, and equity statements, plus the development of the 2023-2027 Strategic Plan, 2023-2033 Facilities Master Plan, and the Strategic Employee Workforce Plan. 

How does she Montco? As a first-generation college graduate, Dr. Bastecki-Perez is passionate about academic equity, inclusion, and belonging. For her inauguration, she and her family established the initial endowed Presidential Scholarship (of 11 scholarships totaling $340,000) through 海角社区鈥檚 Foundation. Under her guidance, 海角社区 earned the prestigious Achieving the Dream Leah Meyer Austin Alumni Award for improving student outcomes and narrowing equity gaps, and 海角社区 was one of only 10 colleges in the country selected for the national ATD-USC Racial Equity Leadership Academy, which supports the development of strategic racial equity plans. In 2024, 海角社区 expanded its Presidential Symposium to five days of learning.  

Other accolades 海角社区 received during her tenure include being named One of the Most Promising Places to Work for eight years, a Pennsylvania National Guard Associations Guard-Friendly School, and The White House Vaccine Champion College, as well as receiving a 2020 Silver Seal Award for high voter participation. For the third consecutive year, 海角社区 was named a voter-friendly campus for 2021-2022.  

海角社区 was also named a Pennsylvania Hunger-Free campus in 2022 by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, as well as a national Bellwether Award finalist in the categorical strand for Planning, Governance, and Finance for 鈥淎nytime, Anywhere鈥 24/7 online tutoring, and a Forbes鈥 ranking as a top employer. 

Under Dr. Bastecki-Perez鈥檚 leadership, the value of an 海角社区 education continues to increase on a countywide and regional scale. For every $1 invested, 海角社区 students gain $4.70 in lifetime earnings (18.7% average annual return for Montco students). The total economic impact for Montgomery County is $594.5 million. For both the County and the region, taxpayers gain $2.30 in added tax revenue and public sector savings, and society gains $9.30 in added income and social savings.* 

贵辞谤鈥her visionary leadership, Dr. Bastecki-Perez has been recognized as one of the 2024 Women of Influence honorees (Philadelphia Business Journal), 2024 Trailblazers in Higher Education (City & State Pennsylvania), 2023 Fifty over 50 difference-makers (City & State Pennsylvania), 2023 and 2022 Higher Education Power 100 (City & State Pennsylvania), 2023 Lehigh Valley Business Power 100 List, 2022 Metro Philadelphia 100 Education Power Players, 2024, 2022 and 2021 Power List for Higher Education (Lehigh Valley Business) and has received the 2021 Eugene Jackson Humanitarian Award. 

Beyond 海角社区, she serves on the board of directors for Challenger Center (Center Host Institution Representative), the Collegiate Consortium for Workforce and Economic Development, MontcoWorks (Montgomery County workforce development board), and the Pennsylvania Commission for Community Colleges. She is a member of America250PA Montgomery County and the GVF Connected Communities Committee, among others, and is a Peer Evaluator for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. 

Prior to her role as president, Dr. Bastecki-Perez has served as 海角社区鈥檚 Vice President of Academic Affairs and Provost, Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dean of Allied Health and Physical Education, and Director and Professor of Dental Hygiene. She began her academic career as an Assistant Professor and Senior Clinical Supervisor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine for nearly a decade before finding her home at 海角社区. 

As an accomplished scholar, Dr. Bastecki-Perez holds certificates from the University of Pittsburgh, Dental Assisting and Oral Hygiene, and a B.S. in Education from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. She started graduate coursework through the Edinboro-Oxford Experience study abroad program at Exeter College, Oxford University, before earning an M.Ed. and Ed.D. in Instructional Design and Technology from the University of Pittsburgh. She was named a Distinguished Alumna by Edinboro University in 2000 and the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 2010. 

Dr. Bastecki-Perez is a鈥lifelong Pennsylvanian, residing in Montgomery County for the last 20 years鈥痺ith her husband and son. In her spare time, Dr. Bastecki-Perez enjoys spending time with her extended family, including her two bonus daughters, traveling, swimming, and dancing with her husband.
