Purpose of Inclusive Language Process

º£½ÇÉçÇø recognizes that students may identify themselves by a first name other than their legal first name. For this reason, Montco has developed an inclusive name and language process. This process allows for greater representation and recognition of students' identity development throughout their journey with Montco.

The Inclusive Language process includes the ability for students to identify a first name that is different than their legal first name.  Students can designate a prefix for more formal use. An option to select gender identity exists and is used for data collection purposes. The process also provides students with the choice to designate their gender pronouns if they so desire.

We believe that this process is important for the College Community and at the same time understand that it may not be used by everyone.  Students may continue to use their legal name and not make any changes.

Montco is committed to serving its diverse community and creating a learning and working environment that is safe, productive, respectful, and free from discrimination.
