This integrated 7-week clinical affiliated course of 240 hours affords the beginning Physical therapist Assistant (PTA) student direct patient care experience in applying assessments, procedures and skills under the direct supervision of a licensed practitioner of physical therapy. With a focus on safe, legal, ethical and effective use of physical therapy interventions the acute or out-patient setting affords the student with a variety of clinical experiences with diverse patient populations where professional competency within the scope of practice of the PTA is developed. Supervision of the student at the beginner level is provided by the staff of the affiliating institution and is coordinated by the college faculty.
