Theory and Practice of Dental Hygiene IV (DHG 258)

This course is designed to prepare students to make the transition into dental hygiene practice. Emphasis is placed on new technologies in oral health care, genetic risk factors for periodontal diseases, periodontal disease as a potential risk factor for systemic diseases, ethical and legal considerations in clinical practice, career options, and current issues in dental hygiene.

Prerequisites

The following courses must be taken prior to this course
DHG 261 - Periodontics II
DHG 226 - Dental Pain Control
DHG 220 - Theory and Practice of Dental Hygiene III, and DHG 225 - Oral Pharmacology

Corequisites

The following courses must be taken along side this course
DHG 253 - Community Dentistry. May be taken prior or during course.
