This course is designed to provide the dental hygiene student with the opportunity to expand knowledge and experience in planning and providing oral health services. Topics include nutritional counseling, instrumentation, prevention education and communication, desensitization, tobacco cessation, ethics as well as the hygienist's role in dental specialties. Focus is placed on the student's development of skills in communication and treatment of patients through the lifespan as well as functioning in clinic in an effective and efficient manner. Students provide educational and clinical services with an emphasis on comprehensive care for child and adult clients at the Central Campus dental hygiene clinic.
