Emphasis is placed on the diversity of life from an evolutionary and ecological perspective. Domains, super groups and kingdoms are discussed from the standpoint of structure, function, metabolism, reproduction, development and evolutionary adaptation. Taxa are compared and contrasted with one another and as they relate to development and ecosystem biology.
